Inspired by Baja Blue

Good morning Stampers!

I am so sorry about Wednesday! I had every intention to post this Wednesday morning, but Tuesday came and went faster than I can remember. Okay, an hour of that was spent napping. A lot of reading and computer work can do that to the eyes.

I hope this is finding you all well. The weather has turned cool and the leaves are falling and the mood can be gray at times. I am enjoying sleeping with the windows open in my bedroom to hear the crickets chirping, and then turning on the heating blanket to keep me all snugly. Reminds me a little of camping. There have been times in which I have heard an owl outside hooting. I get worried about that putting my boys out at night, but I have been assured that my boys are too big for the owl to come swoop them up.

I still have a couple of birthday cards to send out - and of course for this whole month the theme inside is "Happy Belated Birthday." I prefer to send them out ahead of time, and I even have a dummy reminder bell that goes off, but I still cannot get my act together. In December I am having a Birthday card theme stamp camp, so I will have some made up ahead of time. That is half my battle. Thankfully for me...my friend Marcy is gifted in making masculine cards, so I freely give her creative reign with designing those cards. But for December...we will be using a couple of the cupcake stamp sets that are currently on special through SU! for the month of October. My other friend Elizabeth reminded me that I am behind on posting October's special and taking down September's. Which I am grateful for because I did forget about doing that. I won't get a chance to do anything until this weekend.

I am pleased with how this card turned out. I once again used the scrapbook paper that I traded with my friend Marcy. I really liked it and I am so glad that we did that exchange program. I am also glad to see that cardmaking is using more and more scrapbook paper. It has been helpful to me when I need to pull something together quickly. What I used:
SU! cardstock: Baja Blue, Kiwi Kiss (both in colors), Pink Passion, Apricot Appeal, white.
SU! ink: Baja Blue
SU! markers: Pixie Pink, Pink Passion, Green Galore, Barely Banana, Apricot Appeal.
I added some glitter to the cone of the flower.
SU! set: Inspired by Nature. Sentiment is SU! but I cannot remember what the name of it is - forgive me please. (I cannot access my room right now)
SU!: 1 3/4 inch square punch.
Other: White double faced satin ribbon, scrapbook paper, scalloped dies.

Have a great weekend!

Thanks for stopping by. See you Monday!

Bella Rose Polka Dots

Good morning Stampers!
In my neck of the words we had beautiful weather, which meant..not spending a great deal on in depth card making. I needed some female birthday cards, so that was my theme this week. Call it Simple Female. Okay, that just doesn't sound good saying it out loud. So just say Simple Female in your head and my point about my theme comes across much better! You know that simple cards are what I have to focus on right now.

For this card, I used the Pink Pirouette in the 12x12 paper because it is the only size paper that comes in the textured paper for the in-color series. Wow.. that was a mouth full and I hope you could follow that. Many people, include myself, wish that SU! would make the textured cardstock in the 8.5x11 size. So the Pink Pirouette is the base. Then I used the Bella Rose paper - to be honest, I don't own any other DSP yet. Right now though, I really like the Ski Slope DSP in the Winter mini occasions/catalog is my favorite.
To get the scallops, I used the 1/2" punch (which is the same size as the pink polka dots you see) and punched out 1/2" circles in Riding Hood Red cardstock.
The pink DSP in the middle, is on the flip side of the polka dot paper. Sweet!
The white ribbon is a double faced white satin.
Happy Birthday is stamped in Riding Hood Red.

There you have it! Easy Peasy.

Go forth and stamp!

See you Wednesday!

Artifacts Birthday

Good morning Stampers!

Well, we made it through the week! Now it is time to wind down and relax a little and of course - stamp!!

To keep with the theme of simple cards this week, I used some scrapbook paper that I traded with a friend. We each had scrap packs that had duplicate pages in them. We both knew that we would not be using all of it, so why not maximize the purchasing power. We traded our duplicate papers from different scrap packs and then had double difference - okay that is a new phrase made up by me :) It is a two for one type of thing.
We used the Artifacts stamp set - retired - at last Saturday's stamp camp. Since it was still fresh in my mind, I used it again.
Cardstock: Choc. Chip, Certainly Celery, Ballet Blue.
Ink: Tango Tangerine, Marigold - retired, Baja Breeze and Kiwi Kiss - I was going to use this for another project, but liked this paper better.
Ribbon: Choc. Chip. Have a good weekend! See you Monday!

Thanks for stopping by.

Blooming with Happiness - Birthday Cake

Good morning Stampers!

Happy Hump Day! Half way through the week. Definitely a good thing! That Statistics project is due tomorrow and I have met with some people from class to get a handle on it. How am I doing?? Well, maybe I will comment on it after Thursday.

I needed a birthday card for my niece. This is her second year in school, so it is always fun to get mail when you are away!
I used the retired SU! hostess Blooming with Happiness set and some Scrapbook Paper Stash that I had laying around. You cannot tell, but I added glitter to the flower centers and candles. I used Staz-on black for the cake and candles, and SU! markers to fill them in. I also used the Dazzling Diamonds glitter for accenting.
I am keeping true with the simple cards this week. Have a good day! See you Friday!

Thanks for stopping by!

Happy Fall

Good morning Stampers!

Stamp Camp on Saturday went really well. The group decided that November 15th's Stamp Camp will be all Christmas cards. So they will be making 12 Christmas cards - 4 of each design. Many already signed up for November's stamp camp and I have a couple openings left.
I will be sending out an e-mail regarding it.

I was able to steal down into my stamp room yesterday for a very short amount of time. I was fighting sleep, so I knew I had to hurry.
I have had this scrapbook paper hanging around and it was driving me nuts! When I originally purchased it, I had an idea for it that of course was a perfect fit. Well, who knows how long ago that was and I have forgotten that "perfect image". Because of that, I have not allowed myself to purchase anymore scrapbook paper for now. Of course I purchase the SU! scrapbook paper, but I have not purchased others. I have to say though. I love the Basic Grey papers and I saw an advertisement for their new Christmas line - Wassail. It looked pretty. Hold me back!

Since I have sorted through scrapbook paper several times, and have donated it, I wanted to get back to using what I have.
I cannot tell you much about this one, except I think it looks "fallish" and also "manly". Now the two do not correlate necessarily. (can you tell I am taking statistics right now, and by the way I have a huge project due this week - thus the reason for the simple cards this week)
I have also wanted to use the Season tree set - which is on the dormant list. I thought it was a retired set, but it isn't. The Happy Hellos is from the Lots of Thoughts stamp set that was offered during last years Sell-a-Bration. the scrapbook paper and cardstock is not SU! It was stash just sitting around.

Have a good day. See you Wednesday!
